What is a Director’s Statement?
A director’s statement is more than a mere description of your film; it is the essence of your creative vision and the communicative bridge between you and your audience. A director's statement delves into the heart of your film, uncovering the inspirations, challenges, and unique perspectives that drive your project. It's not just about the story you're telling; it's about why this story matters - to you, to your audience, and to the broader context of the world it inhabits.
You are the creator* (writer - director - producer) of your own story.
On our first film festival application journey, we were accepted into Tribeca Film Festival! Our little micro budget web series, which we wrote, directed, produced, and edited - got accepted into one of the top film festivals in the country! All because we believed in ourselves! We hope our story encourages other aspiring filmmakers and creatives to take the big leap and create their own work. Your film career is in your hands. As artist career coaches, we encourage you to write your own permission slip to make your own dreams come true!
Web Series Festivals That Are Worth the Submission Fees
Congratulations on deciding to pursue the film festival route! Web series festivals are incredibly valuable. They not only help in securing a curated audience for your work, but they can also provide your project with legitimacy that doesn’t quite exist online alone. Plus, by getting your web series showcased at a festival, you’ll have the opportunity to meet like-minded creators, network with creatives and industry folks alike, get live audience reactions to your work, pitch ideas for larger projects, and hopefully make connections for future collaborations – which is what it’s all about. We hope this list of web series festivals is helpful to you as you navigate this exciting part of your creative journey!
